Mr Dalmia has also served on the Board of Directors of Union Bank of India, and as a Member of the Northern Committee of Industrial Development Bank of India. He has also been serving as the Non-Executive Chairman of GHDL Limited. Mr Sanjay Dalmia has been actively associated with various trade organizations like PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and was associated with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry), the largest and oldest apex business organization in India.

An avid thinker and philanthropist, Mr Sanjay Dalmia is known to be a turnaround specialist in the industry. His successful acquisition strategies have brought him much fame, especially after acquiring Colwell & Salmon, and Sree Meenakshi Mills. Mr Dalmia is passionate towards realizing his vision of making India emerge as a global power. As an industrialist, Mr. Sanjay Dalmia has always sought out new areas of operation. Some of his ventures like Time Sharing Holiday Resorts and Messaging Terminals in telecommunication fields are pioneering efforts.

A philanthropist at heart, Mr Sanjay Dalmia actively participates in various civic and welfare activities. He is a member on the Board of Trustees of the Indian Literary Society and other educational institutions. He set up the Organisation of Understanding and Fraternity in 1982 with eminent people from the field of art, culture, industry and social workers to help and promote communal harmony and national integration. The attention of the Organisation was focused on improving the condition of differently-abled children in India. Mr Sanjay Dalmia founded a special school named ‘Masoom’ for these special children. Ever since the school was started in 2001, Mr Dalmia celebrates his birthday with these children.

Situated in Timarpur, Delhi, ‘Masoom’ is helping several children realize their dreams, by training them to communicate with people and express themselves. Dalmia Sewa Trust(Dalmia Group), started under the aegis of Mr Sanjay Dalmia, contributes to various philanthropic activities such as providing sanitary and safe drinking water to the people of Chirawa (Rajasthan); organizing free health camps for patients suffering from Asthma, eye ailments etc for the underprivileged and economically weaker people in Rajasthan.

The trust keenly advocates the idea of Swachh Bharat by constructing lavatories in about 100 odd houses in Chirawa. It has also taken up constructing houses for about 100 homeless families in Chirawa. The trust uses its own resources to conduct and manage all these operations, with no aid from the District Administration or any other agency.

Apart from all these social welfare endeavours, Mr Sanjay Dalmia has formed the Bharatiya Socialist Republican Trust (BSR) to provide healthcare amenities to the economically weaker sections of society in New Delhi. Mr Dalmia has also joined hands with Ms Jai Madaan, a noted social activist and public figure, to form Bharat Maa Shaheed Samman Trust. Mr. Dalmia agenda was to honor and applaud the freedom fighters who came together to fight against the colonial powers and win freedom for our nation.
